When and how your UTTC student email account is created

Your UTTC student email account is created after you are registered for at least one class. Accounts are not created upon request.

When are accounts created?

  • First batch runs on the first Monday of:
    • April (Summer semester)
    • July (Fall semester)
    • November (Spring semester)
  • Additional batches run weekly, then more often as the semester start approaches.
  • Timing can vary based on campus operations.
How will I know my account is ready? You’ll receive an email from UTTC I.T. in your personal email inbox once your account is created. This typically happens 3–5 business days after you register for your first class (often faster near semester start).

If you haven’t received your account information

  1. Confirm you are registered for at least one class.
  2. Wait at least 3 business days after registering.
  3. If it’s been more than a week since you registered for classes and you haven’t received account info please contact admissions@uttc.edu or call (701) 221-1850.

ACCUPLACER Placement Test

The ACCUPLACER placement test helps determine your starting point in English and math courses. It's not a pass/fail exam—it's designed to place you where you’ll have the best chance of success.

Who Needs to Take It?

New students who do not have ACT scores from the past five years will need to take the ACCUPLACER placement test.

Exceptions:

  • Students enrolled in the following programs are not required to take the ACCUPLACER:
    • Heavy Equipment Operation
    • Welding Technology
    • Cybersecurity and Data Privacy
    • Commercial Vehicle Operations
  • Transfer students who have successfully completed college-level English and Math courses with a grade of C or higher are also exempt.

Accepted Placement Tests

  • ACT or SAT scores dated within the last five years
  • ACCUPLACER scores dated within the last three years

What to Expect

  • Untimed test covering writing and math
  • Test may be taken in person on campus or virtually via Zoom
  • Your results help place you in the courses that best match your skill level

How to Schedule

Candidates cannot complete the ACCUPLACER until their application has been processed by Admissions and the testing requirement has been identified.

Once Admissions processes your application and determines that you need to complete the ACCUPLACER, your assigned testing proctor will reach out to you by email with available testing options and instructions.

ACCUPLACER Deadlines

If the ACCUPLACER is required for your admission, you must complete testing by the deadline for the semester you plan to attend:

  • Fall 2026: August 14, 2026
  • Spring 2027: December 31, 2026
  • Summer 2027: April 23, 2027

Important: Testing appointments are limited and may fill quickly as a deadline approaches. Please respond promptly when your assigned proctor contacts you to ensure you have enough time to complete the testing requirement.
