ACCUPLACER Placement Test
The ACCUPLACER placement test helps determine your starting point in English and math courses. It's not a pass/fail exam—it's designed to place you where you’ll have the best chance of success.
Who Needs to Take It?
New students who do not have ACT scores from the past five years will need to take the ACCUPLACER placement test.
Exceptions:
- Students enrolled in the following programs are not required to take the ACCUPLACER:
- Heavy Equipment Operation
- Welding Technology
- Cybersecurity and Data Privacy
- Commercial Vehicle Operations
- Transfer students who have successfully completed college-level English and Math courses with a grade of C or higher are also exempt.
Accepted Placement Tests
- ACT or SAT scores dated within the last five years
- ACCUPLACER scores dated within the last three years
What to Expect
- Untimed test covering writing and math
- Test may be taken in person on campus or virtually via Zoom
- Your results help place you in the courses that best match your skill level
How to Schedule
Candidates cannot complete the ACCUPLACER until their application has been processed by Admissions and the testing requirement has been identified.
Once Admissions processes your application and determines that you need to complete the ACCUPLACER, your assigned testing proctor will reach out to you by email with available testing options and instructions.
ACCUPLACER Deadlines
If the ACCUPLACER is required for your admission, you must complete testing by the deadline for the semester you plan to attend:
- Fall 2026: August 14, 2026
- Spring 2027: December 31, 2026
- Summer 2027: April 23, 2027
Important: Testing appointments are limited and may fill quickly as a deadline approaches. Please respond promptly when your assigned proctor contacts you to ensure you have enough time to complete the testing requirement.
