Description
This course is an introduction to educational programs for individuals with severe disabilities. Students develop competence in the development, selection, administration, and interpretation of formal and informal assessment methods for appropriate for indiviuals with sever disablities. The development, inplementation, and evaluation of a variety of logically ordered instructional approaches are examined as a framework for the delivery of specific domains such as: language skills, functional academics, self-care skills, sex education, spcial care procedures, and physical management methods. Emphasis is placed on methods of adapting educational materials and environments in order to allow individuals with severe disabilities to remain in the least restrictive educational setting. In addition, demonstrated knowledge concerning trasition areas such as vocational, recreational, and residential services is required.
