Description

This course provides an overview of issues related to contemporary families with children age birth to age 12. The family is viewed within individual social and cultural contexts with a family systems and ecocultural orientation. Issues regarding diversity, parent-professional partnerships and communication, parents of children with disabilities, and the legal and ethical rights of families and children will be discussed. Students will reflect on their own values concerning families and how they can become effective partners with the families. (Spring)
