Description

This course delivers its content relevant to the needs of an allied health professional. It provides an in-depth study of the nature of the diseases based on the symptoms, physical examination, diagnostic tests and treatment methodologies documented in the medical record. The learner advances their skills in the areas of analyzing health documentation for medical necessity, performing qualitative analysis and managing patient care data. To reinforce learning, the content of this course parallels and is integrated with the second-level coding courses, ICD-9-CM (HIT 212) and HCPCS (HIT 213). This course utilizes computer based learning opportunities and involves a lab component. (Spring) Prerequisite HIT 102, BIO 221.
