Description

This course explores the principles of health information management techniques including effective planning, directing, organizing, controlling, leadership, motivation, and team building. The course emphasizes the functions of management, leadership, and the relevant laws, rules, and regulations. Learners have the opportunity to identify their personal management and leadership style and identify ways to enhance their effectiveness with attention given to culturally diverse working environments. This course also emphasizes team-based projects using continuous quality improvement (CQI) or total quality management (TQM) techniques. Learners will acquire the skills used by health care facilities to assure and assess the quality of care provided to their patients and customers. Concepts covered in this course include quality assurance, assessment, continuous quality improvement, risk management, utilization management, and medical staff concepts.
