Description

This course emphasizes continuous quality improvement (CQI) or total quality management (TQM) techniques used by health care facilities to assure and assess the quality of care provided to their patients and customers. Concepts emphasized in this course include quality assurance, assessment, continuous quality improvement, risk management, utilization management, and medical staff concepts. This course also addresses the electronic medical record initiatives happening in today's health care delivery system with particular attention provided to Indian Health Services, tribal, and rural health care systems. This class offers independent, computer-based and group/team learning opportunities and the course integrates a lab component. Prereq: HIT 104, HIT 106, HIT 208, HIT 215 (Spring) Campus-based & On-Line
