Description

This course provides the advancement and continuation of HI 211. This course provides beginning, intermediate, and advanced coding practices sufficient to support the learner's acquisition of entry-level ICD-9-CM coding and reimbursement competencies appropriate to hospital systems, including, community-based, governmental, tribal, and international facilities. It also provides an introductiont o ICD-10-CM coding practices. Concepts included are ethical coding practices, compliance mandates and the validation of clinical information, proper sequencing, case mix/severity of illness data, prospective payment systems, critical care systems, health care reimbursement and reimbursement optimization. This course utilizes computer-based learning opportunities and has a lab component This course also provides an introduction to ICD-10-CM coding practices.
