Description

Students apply professional practices of health information management in combination of real-life simulated experiences and in actual health care facilities under the direct supervision of a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Administrator (RHIA). Students are placed in various health care settings to acquire experience in health care delivery systems, organizations, and facilities. This professional practice experience emphasizes the skills obtained in the first year courses. This course serves to reinforce the skills acquired in the first year of study and provides exposure to industry facilities in preparation for second-year studies. Prerequisites: HIT 101, HIT 102, HIT 176, HIT 195, and HIT 185 (Summer)
