Introduction to Health Information (HIT 176)

Description

This course provides the opportunity to explore the heatlh information management profession. The learner will experience the various HIM functions and choose their HIM career path. The learner will initiate their professional development plan, including degree planning, budgetary matters, and AHIMA/AHDI student membership. This course also emphasizes the organization of the health care delivery system, including local, state, national, tribal, and international sector, the data collection standards used in the industry, best practices concerning data quality, technology (e-HIM), data access and HIM's role in these functions. This class has a lab component and ocmputer-based learning. (Fall)
