Description

Landscape Ecology-GIS Natural Resource Analysis. This course is designed to be an introductory overview of the principles of Landscape Ecology, including those that govern distribution and abundance of organisms across a variable landscape; basic concepts rooted in geomorphology, geography, and ecology. An integrated computer lab will incorporate the GPS, GIS and remote sensing data to map natural resources, field data and predict species occurrences. Discussion and independent readings are assigned to expore native culture and social/value implications. This course will include a laboratory/field research element. Prerequisites CSC 101, MTH 102, BIO 151, BIO 230, GEO 124: Fundamentals of GIS/GS/RS; each with course grades of 'C' or better. One of these may be taken concurrently with instructor permission.
