Description

This course expands upon the knowledge gained in anatomy and physiology by providing an extensive study of disease processes, medical necessity concerns, diagnostic techniques, and treatment methodologies. This course delivers its content relevant to the needs of an allied health professional. It provides an in-depth study of the nature of the diseases based on the symptoms, physical examination, diagnostic tests and treatment methodologies documented in the medical record. To reinforce learning, the content of this course parallels and is integrated with the first-level coding course, Basic ICD-9-CM Coding (HI 230) and Basic Pharmacology for Allied Health. This course utilizes computer based learning opportunities and involves a lab component. (Fall) Prerequisites HIT 102, BIO 221.
