Description

This course is the second in a series of three courses designed to develop the necessary foundations in mathematics for prospective elementary teachers. Topics will include North Dakota Standards for teaching mathematics, properties of geometric shapes, measurement, triangle congruence and similarity, geometric constructions, Cartesian coordinates, symmetry, and selected topics from probability and statistics. Throughout the course, the five process standards recommended by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Principles and Standards (problem solving, reasoning, communication, connections, and representation) will be emphasized.
Prerequisite: MTH 277
