Description

Course Description: This course asks the epistemological question of what is knowledge, who taught you what you know and under what circumstances did you learn what you know. Learners will begin their research, writing and information gathering by utilizing verbal expression, stories, epics, legends, poetry, words, signs, symbols, and names. Because most of our belief systems have not been written down, this class will overcome this obstacle and not only utilize our own knowledge but that of our Elders. Our learners will do the research for this project that will include interviewing as well as maintaining a record of what they know and have learned about their own environment. We will begin to define for ourselves who we are and quite possibly challenge those experts who propose to tell us who we are.
